The CBE Thermal Comfort Tool
The Center for the Built Environment (CBE) Thermal Comfort Tool, developed at The University of California at Berkeley, is a free online thermal comfort tool allowing users to perform complex thermal comfort calculations and offers dynamic and interactive visual representations of thermal comfort zones. The tool complies with the major thermal comfort Standards i.e. ASHRAE 55–2017, ISO 7730:2005 and EN 16798–1:2019. It incorporates the key thermal comfort models, such as the Predicted Mean Vote (PMV), Standard Effective Temperature (SET), adaptive models, local discomfort models, SolarCal, and dynamic predictive clothing insulation.
In addition to the CBE Thermal Confort tool, the Python package pythermalcomfort is also freely accessible to calculate thermal comfort indices (e.g. PMV, PPD, SET, adaptive) and convert physical variables.
