Unlocking Energy Efficient Ventilative Cooling Through Emerging CEN & ISO Standards
We are pleased to announce that a dedicated workshop on ventilative cooling will take place during the upcoming 45th AIVC – ASHRAE IEQ, 13th TightVent & 11th venticool Conference, scheduled for 24–26 September 2025 in Montreal, Canada.
The workshop is entitled:
- “Unlocking Energy Efficient Ventilative Cooling Through Emerging CEN & ISO Standards”
This workshop will address overheating mitigation through ventilative cooling systems (free cooling), both alone and in combination with supplementary or mechanical cooling, and examine how emerging CEN and ISO standards can support design practice and integration into national legislation. It will provide insights into the role of ventilative cooling in international standards, highlight existing gaps, present U.S. case studies including comparisons of the ventilative cooling potential method with dynamic simulations, and discuss the revised CIBSE AM10 guidance and its influence on ASHRAE. The session will also share lessons from the standards development process and encourage discussion on optimal design paths and strategies for national implementation.
The workshop is organized and chaired by Christoffer Plesner (VELUX A/S, Denmark) and Jannick Roth (WindowMaster International A/S, Denmark).
